Rob Green received his Bachelor's of Science in Biology at the University of the Incarnate Word, with concentrations in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Genetics. He continued his research at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in Protein Physiology, and Inducible Genetics, designing human protein production in model organisms, and isolation protocols for various projects by genetically transforming bacteria and yeast. With this background and a limitless supply of mentors, Rob designed our rapid yeast identification system, as well as our custom propagation protocols, to bring quality yeast cultures to institutions and breweries alike.

Mara received her Bachelor's degrees in both Religion and Cultural Studies at the University of the Incarnate Word, followed by a Master's Degree in Religious Studies at UIW's Pastoral Institute, and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Sustainability Engineering at the University of Texas San Antonio. With over 15 years of administrative, managerial, and business experience, Mara handles the Community Cultures daily operations as well sustainability and conservation outreach and partnerships.
We are a family owned business whose love story started in the great outdoors. As proud San Antonians, we started first by backpacking, hiking, and kayaking the diverse Texas countryside, and began collecting native yeast strains along the way. After cultivating over 80 pure yeast cultures, and rigorously testing for multiple applications, we set out to provide the most unique, and regionally and seasonally diverse brewer's yeast to our local brewery and distillery community.
As our passion grew, our vision grew, adding a wide variety of traditional, commercial strains to our catalog. Eventually partnering with breweries and beer legends, we were able to provide Kveik, neutral California ale yeasts, ESB strains, and array of historical lagers. We continue to perfect our catalog daily, to provide fresh brewers yeast suitable for every brewery, and every beer style.
With over 30 years combined research and lab technique, yeast development, production experience, customer service, and administrative and business expertise, we are here to support and build the craft beer community with fresh and superior yeast cultures, fast and affordable shipping, full laboratory services, yeast banking, microbiological assistance, contamination resolution, and brewery lab consultation.
